Project description

Currently, approximately half of the DNA samples submitted for forensic DNA analysis in Australia are termed touch or trace samples. Touch DNA is the DNA that is deposited when a person touches a surface or an item. The significance of touch DNA in forensic casework is undisputed, yet the source of touch DNA remains largely unknown. This project(s) will assess what sources of DNA are contributing to the touch deposits by use of different techniques and DNA analysis.
