Project description

This project introduces students to hydrodynamic modelling that can be used to study a variety of processes such as the flushing of estuaries and bays,  upwelling in the eastern Great Australian Bight, the dispersal of desalination brine, or tidal currents for the use of power generation. Feel free to contact Jochen for further details.

Assumed knowledge

Basic mathematics and enthusiasm.

Supervisors research focus

I am a physical oceanographer with a PhD from the University of Hamburg, Germany. I have expert knowledge of a range of research fields including coastal upwelling, canyon-flow interactions, and suspended sediment transport. My research involved the development and application of new theories and hydrodynamic models, analysis of a broad range of field data, and laboratory experimentation.

Note: You need to register interest in projects from different supervisors (not a number of projects with the one supervisor).
You must also contact each supervisor directly to discuss both the project details and your suitability to undertake the project.
