Project description

A guided/investigative project in graphs and combinatorics which will be comprised of two main components: 1) Studying past research techniques and known results 2) Developing and applying new approaches to currently open questions. Possible topics of study include: Crossing numbers, Domination numbers and the many variations of these. Students will gain research experience in a field which lies in the the intersection of mathematics and computer science. Please google `crossing number' and `domination number' to learn more about the objects involved.

Assumed knowledge

Knowledge in discrete mathematics will be helpful, but not essential. Some basic computer programming knowledge is preferable


Note: You need to register interest in projects from different supervisors (not a number of projects with the one supervisor).
You must also contact each supervisor directly to discuss both the project details and your suitability to undertake the project.
