Project description

Designing electric machines involves a systematic approach that includes defining specifications, selecting appropriate materials, and sizing components. The sizing equation may vary depending on the type of electric machine you are designing (e.g., motor or generator), as well as its specific requirements. This project aims design of two 2.2kW permanent-magnet (PM) generators (axial-flux and radial-flux structures) as well as their full comparison for wind turbine applications. Sizing equations are applied for the initial designs and optimisations, 3D finite-element analysis is used for verification of the proposed methodology. The project outcome will be an open-access toolbox in MATLAB for quick design of PM machines.

Note: You need to register interest in projects from different supervisors (not a number of projects with the one supervisor).
You must also contact each supervisor directly to discuss both the project details and your suitability to undertake the project.
