Project description

  • Scholarship available for the successful student applicant. There is also a possibility of a paid summer internship.
Caves Creek (Narraminju) hosts a number of environmentally and culturally significant surface water pools and seeps. RioTinto is investigating mining areas within this catchment which would require dewatering. It is important to characterise the mode of occurrence of each pool to determine the likelihood that mine dewatering drawdown could impact the water balance. Currently available data includes groundwater level observations, groundwater chemistry (major ions and isotopes), geological and geophysical mapping and borehole logging.
