Project description
At Tonsley Innovation District, BAE Systems Maritime Australia is collaborating with Flinders University and Australian businesses to test and trial advanced manufacturing tools and techniques, which can be adapted to shipyard and deliver increased safety and efficiency outcomes. This project aims to enhance shipyard safety by investigating the causes of musculoskeletal injuries during welding activities. The research will further seek to develop interventions that leverage robotics, and assistive wearable technologies to reduce injury risks. The focus is on analysing injury patterns, implementing real-time monitoring, and ergonomic interventions, all aimed at creating a safer work environment for shipyard workers when undertaking welding activities.
