Project description
Dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) are one of the promising technologies for photovoltaic cells. Physics and Physical Chemistry are the relevant reserach fields for optimising their functioning. The interface of the titania and the dyes in DSCs is the crucial place for their functionality and efficiency. The morphology of dye layers on titania (thickness, coverage and homogeneity) and the electronic structure is the critical part of the interfaces in dye sensitized solar cells for their optimum functioning. The interfaces will be investigated with depth profiling techniques and electron spectroscopy. This is a project in collaboration with Prof Lars Kloo (Sweden).
