Viromics

Project description

Working with clinicians and researchers across SA, Australia, and internationally, we are extracting viral DNA for sequencing and analysis. We collect samples from patients, extract and sequence the viruses, and then compare the samples to identify which viruses are present and what they might be doing. The FAME group usually has several open projects in viromics and we have analysed samples from all different kinds of patients. Assumed knowledge

There is not a lot of assumed knowledge, some basic biology skills (pipetting, aseptic technique, etc) are a bonus. We will teach you everything you need to know!

Note: You need to register interest in projects from different supervisors (not a number of projects with the one supervisor).
You must also contact each supervisor directly to discuss both the project details and your suitability to undertake the project.
