Project description

As part of the FAME group we are culturing bacteria and viruses that infect them to try and prevent disease. Bacteria are becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics, and harder and harder to treat! Phage therapy has the potential to revolutionize bacterial infections, and also to treat other diseases that are mediated by microbes like inflammatory bowel disease, cystic fibrosis, and much more. Come and learn microbial culturing, phage isolation from the environment, DNA sequencing and genomics.
