Project description

Seriola lalandi, commonly known as Yellowtail Kingfish (YTK) is an important aquaculture species widespread in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 (DPP4) is one of the main digestive enzymes that aids in the utilisation of the dietary ingredients in natural and commercial fish diets. DPP4 can be used as a biological marker to monitor the effects of different feeding strategies and diets on fish physiology due to its role in protein turnover and satiety responses. The aim of this project is to clone and express two full-length DPP4's from YTK and to biochemically characterize the two enzymes.
