Project description

My main fields of research relate to examination of trace evidence (especially gunshot residues, residues from explosions, and paint), development of analytical procedures for illicit drugs, and the production of intelligence useful for the investigation of clandestine illicit drug laboratories. Flinders, in partnership with Forensic Science SA (FSSA - the SA Government providers of forensic services in SA) has a world-leading illicit drug research reputation. As my research covers a broad field comprising many potential projects, my usual approach with Honours projects is to tailor a project to suit your particular interests and expertise. Industry Partners - Forensic Science SA and Defence Science and Technology Group.
  • Note that while I am now retired and unable to act as primary supervisor, I would still encourage students to contact me in order to discuss the type of project they are interested in so that I can point them to an appropriate primary supervisor

Assumed knowledge

For trace evidence research, FACH3701, CHEM2712 and CHEM3701 or their equivalents are essential. For Illicit drug projects, FACH3702 or equivalent is desirable whilst CHEM2702, CHEM2711, CHEM3701 and CHEM3711 or their equivalents are essential.

Industry involvement

Note: You need to register interest in projects from different supervisors (not a number of projects with the one supervisor).
You must also contact each supervisor directly to discuss both the project details and your suitability to undertake the project.
