Project description
This project forms part of a larger research program that aims to develop AI-assisted methods for detecting socially engineered phishing attacks using Australian and New Zealand contextual and behavioural characteristics. The project aims to investigate and characterise the unique features of socially engineered phishing attacks targeting Australian and New Zealand organisations, and to develop a taxonomy of contextual and behavioural characteristics to support future AI-based detection approaches.

Socially engineered phishing attacks remain one of the most significant cybersecurity threats to organisations worldwide, particularly within critical infrastructure sectors. While numerous studies have investigated phishing attacks and developed artificial intelligence (AI)-based detection methods, most existing research relies on international datasets that may not accurately represent the contextual, linguistic, and behavioural characteristics of phishing attacks targeting Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) organisations. This project forms part of a larger research program that aims to develop AI-assisted methods for detecting socially engineered phishing attacks using Australian and New Zealand contextual and behavioural characteristics.
