Project description
The Adelaide metropolitan area received less than 100 mm rain from September 2024 to March 2025, only about 45% of the long-term average (based on Bureau of Meteorology the West Terrace station). In the four summer months, only 30 mm rainfall occurred, less than one third of an average year. Canopy dieback has been observed for some street trees, which may have resulted in tree mortality. Street trees dieback and mortality can reduce aesthetic view, cause biodiversity loss, and incur significant cost if replacement is required. This project aims at documenting and understanding which trees, where, and why the dieback and mortality occurred in the 2025 summer drought.
Note: You need to register interest in projects from different supervisors (not a number of projects with the one supervisor).
You must also contact each supervisor directly to discuss both the project details and your suitability to undertake the project.
