Project description

Contact Adrian for more information: Several project opportunities are available. I am leading projects on mine-aquifer interactions and spring discharge in Queensland, flow to Coffin Bay (Eyre Peninsula), sand boil formation at Sellick's beach, labroatory analyses of tidal effects on coastal aquifers, evaluation of the effectiveness of water-sensitive urban design, exploration and development of water resources management plans for the Lower Burdekin (Queensland), amongst a host of other water-related projects. There are also opportunities to work with Dr Cristina Solórzano-Rivas and Dr Amir Jazayeri, who bring considerable expertise to my research team and to the wider National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training, which is based at Flinders.

Supervisors research focus

My research focusses on the investigation and management of water, including in both rural and urban settings, and within surface and subsurface systems. My primary interest is hydrogeology, and I have established an international reputation in the study of coastal aquifers. For example, we use field-based methods, laboratory experimentation and computer modelling to explore the complex buoyancy-dependent processes that freshwater-seawater mixing in coastal zones. I am also heavily involved in other groundwater-related topics, including surface water-groundwater interaction, catchment hydrology, urban hydrology, water resources management, erosion, and contaminant transport.

Note: You need to register interest in projects from different supervisors (not a number of projects with the one supervisor).
You must also contact each supervisor directly to discuss both the project details and your suitability to undertake the project.
