Project description

This project will explore the use of AI / ML technology for Digital Twin platforms, to provide enhancement energy management and cost saving practices. This project will be undertaken in collaboration with the Flinders Sustainability Team, to investigate how to better utilise data being gathered on energy generation and energy usage throughout Flinders campuses. Some example project focus areas could include:
  • Solar / wind energy generation predication based on weather data and satellite cloud coverage
  • An energy finance management platform, capable of purchasing / selling power at optimal times based on market prices
  • A smart EV charging system, able to predict EV vehicle usage and charge times
  • Simulation of different theoretical weather scenarios, and the impact on Flinders energy infrastructure

Assumed knowledge

Basic knowledge of Machine Learning and Data Science techniques. Good programming abilities and familiarity with managing multiple input data streams, or a strong willingness to learn this skills, is desirable.
