Project description

Extracting natural stone aggregates from the ground is an energy intensive process and unsustainable. Additionally, and separate to this, Australia is producing plastic waste in tonnes that is being sent to landfill. A convenient method of solving both of these problems is to use plastic waste as an eco-friendly alternative to natural stone aggregate in concrete. A company partner has been sourced who creates the recycled plastic aggregate, however the mix designs required to optimise this new eco-friendly concrete still requires research.

Co-supervisors
